The Eagles (4-2) looked like they were about to run away with the NFC East just two weeks ago, but the Commanders (3-3) are still a game back after the Eagles loss to the Giants. There’s a long way to go, but things are more interesting in the NFC East now that the Eagles have lost two in a row. With the Cowboys (2-3-1) and Giants (2-4) rounding out the division, let’s see what we can take away from Week 6 for each team.
The Eagles are in trouble

It may not seem like it as they’re still 4-2 and sitting atop the NFC East, but the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 season is hanging by a thread after losing their second-straight game. While that statement might be a bit hyperbolic, the defending champs haven’t really looked right this season. They’re currently the third-worst in the league in total offense per game and are fourth-worst in the league in total passing yards per game. If the Eagles want to defend their championship this season, they need to turn things around in a hurry.
A.J. Brown might be on the move

A.J. Brown is arguably one of the best receivers in the league, but he’s had a strange start to the 2025 NFL season. He’s had less than 50 yards in four of his six games, and has had less than 10 yards in two of his six games. Brown has already been part of behind-the-scenes locker room tension and has been the subject of trade rumors. While it would seem surprising for a team struggling on offense to trade their best receiver, this might be a case of addition by subtraction as the NFL trade deadline approaches.
Washington really needs Terry McLaurin back

Terry McLaurin has been out for three straight games with a quad injury, and the Commanders offense is suffering from it. Their leading receiver (Chris Moore) had just 49 receiving yards in their 25-24 loss to the Bears, while Jayden Daniels only threw for 211 yards on the night. Zach Ertz and Deebo Samuel have filled in ably, but the Commanders need McLaurin back ASAP.
The Commanders should be 4-2

The Commanders had this one in their grasp up 24-22, but a rain-soaked handoff mishap between Jayden Daniels and Jacory Croskey-Merritt gave the ball to the Bears with three minutes left. A win would have tied the Commanders with the Eagles atop the NFC East, but they’ll fall to 3-3 after giving this one away.
One step forward, one step back for the Cowboys

After a sluggish start to the season, the Cowboys had clawed their way back to .500 with a 2-2-1 record entering Week 6. However, after a 30-27 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers, they’re now back under .500. While there’s a long way to go (and the playoffs are still a real possibility), the Cowboys defense showed they still have a long way to go as they underperformed yet again on Sunday.
The Cowboys offense is dangerously good

Dak Prescott has been playing like an MVP candidate all season, and Sunday’s loss was no exception as he passed for 261 yards and three touchdowns. George Pickens added nine receptions for 168 yards and a touchdown as he’s ably stepped in for CeeDee Lamb while he deals with an ankle injury. The Cowboys offense has the opportunity to be one of the most dangerous in the league once Lamb returns.
The Giants aren’t done just yet

The Giants looked cooked after losing to the lowly Saints and falling to 1-4, but a huge upset of the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles quickly changed things. The Giants are now 2-4 after the win on Thursday Night Football and will now head to Denver to take on the Broncos before another game against the Eagles in Week 8. While the odds have the Giants falling to 2-6 after those two games, they showed they’re not going to roll over for anyone.
Cam Skattebo is a star in the making

Cam Skattebo looked like the best player on the field during the Giants’ 34-17 upset of the Eagles on Thursday Night Football. The rookie running back totaled 19 carries for 98 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on the night while adding another 12 receiving yards on two catches. Despite Tyrone Tracy Jr. being back in the fold after returning from injury, this backfield looks like it belongs to Skattebo.
