We entered the season with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders looking like the class of the NFC East. And after one week, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders still look like the class of the NFC East. There is a long way to go, but it’s getting late early for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Let’s see how the NFC East Power Rankings shake out after Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.

#1 Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)

The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles looked great in spurts against the Dallas Cowboys en route to a 24-20 victory. But they were also a few CeeDee Lamb drops away from losing after not being able to put the Cowboys away. That said, a win is a win, and there’s some upside here as the Eagles didn’t get much out of Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith. Things will get very interesting this week with a road matchup (and Super Bowl rematch) against the Kansas City Chiefs.

#2 Washington Commanders (1-0)

I was this close to putting the Commanders at #1, but I’m going to keep them at #2 because a 21-6 win over the Giants isn’t quite convincing enough to leap frog the defending champs. That said, the Commanders looked good against a bad Giants team and have a chance to move up the divisional rankings next week if they can upset the Packers on the road on Thursday Night Football, and the Eagles struggle against the Chiefs.

#3 Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys looked better than expected and hung with the Eagles for the entire game last week. However, Dak Prescott didn’t surpass 200 passing yards, and CeeDee Lamb dropped a few balls on the way to the 24-20 loss. Things should be looking up for Dallas this week, however, as they take on the New York Giants at home in what should be a relatively easy victory.

#4 New York Giants

The Giants were one of the worst teams in the NFL during Week 1. Russell Wilson only completed 46% of his passes, the Giants running backs averaged 2.0 yards per carry, and their defense allowed over 400 yards of total offense. Head Coach Brian Daboll’s seat (and Wilson’s starting job) is getting hot and will only get hotter if the Giants are unable to steal a road victory against Dallas this weekend.

What’s Next?

This is going to be an interesting week for the NFC East as both the Eagles and Commanders enter Week 2 as road underdogs, while the Cowboys and Giants battle to stay out of the division basement. We could see a bit of a shakeup in these power rankings entering Week 3, so make sure to check back next week to see where things stand!
